MBPD searching for couple accused of stealing steaks from Piggly Wiggly three days in a row

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Myrtle Beach police are looking for a couple accused of working together to steal steaks from the Market Common Piggly Wiggly three days in a row this week.

A police report says the store manager at Piggly Wiggly filed the report Wednesday. He told officers that on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday the female suspect came into the store and shoplifted steak each day. Finally on Wednesday, the manager was able to get the license plate number of the car the suspects were in, and made the call to report the incident's to police.

Store employees told police the female went into the store each day, put items in her cart and concealed the meat in her purse. When she was ready to leave the store, she would leave the cart full of contents inside. The store employees believe the female suspect was calling the second suspect on the phone, telling him to hurry and start the car to drive away. Both the female and male suspects were seen on their phones and appeared to be communicating with each other.

When the female got in, the male drove away quickly. There was also a small child in the vehicle, according to the police report.

The three packs of steaks were worth a total of $48. Police are working on getting surveillance of the suspect from the store, and tracking down the suspects vehicle.
