COLUMBIA, SC (WMBF) – A Marion woman says she will finish earning her degree after winning $100,000 from the South Carolina Education Lottery.

“My prayers were answered,” the winner expressed to lottery officials on Monday.

She claimed the first top prize in the Lottery’s new $5 Double Sided Dollar$ game, according to a news release from the SCEL.

She said she was sitting at the kitchen table when she scratched the ticket; she did not win anything on the front of the ticket but when she scratched the back of the card the first number won her $100,000.

“I love going to school,” the winner said. She said $100,000 would go a long way towards helping her earn the remaining credits she needs to graduate.

The Trading Post at 403 W. 3rd Ave. #9 in Lake View sold the $100,000 winning ticket; the store received a commission of $1000 for selling the claimed ticket.

There are four $100,000 top prizes remaining in the $5 Double Sided Dollar$ game, where odds of winning are 1 in 480,000.
