MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Myrtle Beach police are trying to track down the suspect in a 2 a.m. Ocean Boulevard purse-snatching, after the victim says she wasn’t able to catch up with the thief who grabbed her purse right off her arm and took off with it.

The police report says the 20-year-old female victim and a friend left Sharkey’s Beach Bar on North Ocean Boulevard at 2 a.m. and were walking back to their hotel. They were by 3rd Avenue North when both women say the suspect ran up behind them and snatched the victims satchel off her left arm.

The victim told police she immediately started chasing the suspect southbound down Ocean Boulevard, then followed when he cut toward the Boardwalk. She saw the suspect jump a fence into the Holiday Sands North pool area, then jumped a fence back onto the Boardwalk and kept running. At that point, the victim stopped chasing the suspect.

The suspect made off with the victims’ bag with her driver’s license, ARMY identification, her debit card and $15 in cash.

Myrtle Beach police were able to pull photographs of the suspect from the Boulevard cameras and are trying to track him down. He is described as a short male wearing a black do-rag, black tee-shirt and black and red shorts.
