Police investigating homicide of Galivants Ferry man

Police said man was murdered inside his home Police said man was murdered inside his home

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Police responded to a call early Wednesday morning involving one man who was shot in Galivants Ferry.

According to police, 50-year-old Lyndon Tisdale was found dead at his home on Plainfield Road in the Galivants Ferry area of Horry County at about 12:30 a.m.

Police say an acquaintance saw the 50-year-old man unresponsive in his wheelchair, and after entering to check on him, found blood and called EMS.

EMS pronounced the man dead and notified the police department.

Horry County detectives are investigating this death as a homicide.

"I was kind of shocked and still can't believe that it happened," said a friend, who wishes to remain anonymous.

He said Tisdale was strong-willed and determined to not let his wheelchair limit him.

"He even told me once he had hooked up a push lawnmower behind his wheelchair, so he could cut his own grass, so nobody would have to cut his grass for him," the person said. "He was kind of a motivation for people who knew him I would think."

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Police Tip Line at 843-915-8477.
