MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A woman Myrtle Beach police say is a housekeeper at the Blu Atlantic Hotel was arrested Tuesday after they say she stole $800 from a man staying at the hotel, hid some of it under the sole of her shoe, and had drugs in her purse.

According to the Myrtle Beach police report, it all started Tuesday around noon when the victim called police after returning to his room from the beach to find his cash missing. Officers identified  25-year-old Ykashi Brooks as the offender and when they read her Miranda Warnings, she confessed to taking $500 from the victim, and gave it back to him.

Police officers arrested Brooks for petty larceny. When they searched her, they say they found a plastic bag in her purse with a green, leafy substance. It tested positive as marijuana. Officers also found a prescription pill bottle the report says didn’t belong to Brooks, with five white pills in it. One of the pills was identified by a pharmacist as hydrocodone.

The police report says when Brooks got to the Myrtle Beach jail, jail staff found three $100 bills under the sole of her shoe when they searched her. Brooks told officers the money belonged to the victim from the Blue Atlantic Hotel.

Brooks was served a warrant for possession of a controlled substance, a citation for petty larceny, and a citation for simple possession of marijuana.
