FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - Florence-Darlington Technical College has unveiled plans for a new Automotive and HVAC Technology Center.

College leaders broke ground Tuesday on the new Automotive and HVAC (Heating and Air Conditioning) Center on FDTC's main campus.

Autos and air conditioners are the driving forces behind the first expansion of FDTC's ten-year Academic Master Plan.

The last construction took place in 2006 when construction on the Southeastern Institute of Manufacturing and Technology began.

The new 35,000 square-foot-facility will be built between the main campus and the SiMT on DuBard Boulevard.

This is the first groundbreaking ceremony for the Academic Master Plan, which will see new construction at the College’s main campus.

Dr. Ben Dillard, President of FDTC, said, “This new facility will allow us to expand both the Automotive and HVAC programs at Tech and bring in many more students.

Completion is expected by the Fall of 2016.
