HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – On August 11, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. there will be periodic traffic stops on US 17 Bypass at the intersection of Glenns Bay Road in both the North and Southbound lanes for utility relocation work, as reported by the Horry County Police Department’s “Official” Facebook page.
The US 17 Business and Glenns Bay Road Intersection Improvement project will widen Glenn’s Bay Road from a two-lane road to a five–lane road at the intersection of US 17 Bypass and Glenn’s Bay Road. The project also includes construction of a bridge that will allow free flowing traffic on the bypass. Traffic is scheduled to shift onto the bridge in summer of 2016.
During the day both lanes at Glenn’s Bay Road will remain open and any needed closures will happen overnight, according to County officials. The SCDOT website reports that construction on the project is scheduled to be completed in spring of 2017.
