Second man charged for attempted murder at Jimmagan's Bar

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – One man was shot during an altercation at a Myrtle Beach bar early morning on August 5, according to Lt. Joey Crosby with Myrtle Beach Police. A 27-year-old man is being charged for the shooting, and a 30-year-old man was arrested for attempted murder.

At about 3:06 a.m., officers were dispatched to Jimmagan’s Sports Bar and Grill, located at 6003 North Kings Highway, and learned that two men had been involved in a physical altercation inside the bar, Lt. Crosby stated.

One man was shot during the altercation, Lt. Crosby said. He was found a short time later and taken to a nearby hospital. His condition is not known at this time.

Marquis Jamal Burgess, 27, of Myrtle Beach, was taken into custody for the shooting, and is being charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, according to MBPD officials.

At Thursday’s bond hearing August 6, Burgess received a $15,000 surety bond on unlawful carrying of a pistol, a $15,000 surety bond for possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime and bond was denied for the attempted murder charge, according to the Myrtle Beach Municipal Court Clerk's Office.

Myrtle Beach Police reports also state that, 30-year-old Kendrick Walter Green was arrested Friday, August 14 for attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and unlawful carrying of a pistol.

Green is currently housed at J Reuben Long Detention center and charged with: attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, poss., conceal, sell., or dispose of stolen vehicle, and unlawful carrying of a pistol. Green was denied bond for attempted murder.
