Harvick, Blaney come to Palmetto State for Media Day

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WMBF) - Xfinity Series driver Ryan Blaney got the better of Kevin Harvick in a Cannonball Run style race from Camden, South Carolina to Columbia in celebration of the Bojangles' Southern 500 Media Day on Tuesday.

The two drivers raced in their style cars down to the state capitol, before Blaney unveiled his new-look no. 21 car that he will ride in both races come Labor Day weekend in Darlington.

"I'll be able to run both races, it'll be good to track time because Darlington is such a huge racetrack so it'll be good to try to get more laps on there and I think the result will be fine," Blaney said.

Defending Sprint Cup and Southern 500 champion Kevin Harvick is looking for a repeat a month from now.

"We were able to experience winning at Darlington last year and to come back and to try to win again is always the goal, so still, the Southern 500, no matter when it is (on the race schedule), it's still something that everyone has circled on their calendar."
