New SCHSL realignment proposed

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WMBF) - The new realignment proposal has been submitted to be approved next month to move South Carolina High School athletics to five classes, starting in 2016. Schools have until the middle of August to appeal the proposed new classes and regions, and the board will look to approve a final decision in September. The proposed classes and regions as they affect Grand Strand and Pee Dee schools are listed below:

    An investigation is underway after two people were shot Saturday night in Marion, according to Marion Police Chief Dewayne Tennie. The two people were shot in front of a store at the corner of Bluff Street and Godbolt Street.

    Florence County Sheriff deputies were responding to an assault call Friday when they discovered a victim that had been stabbed. The incident occurred on Palomar Parkway in Florence. Investigators discovered a verbal dispute had resulted in the victim being assaulted and stabbed.
