TIMMONSVILLE, SC (WMBF) – A 28-year-old man is charged with attempted murder for allegedly shooting someone multiple times after a verbal altercation at BJ’s Lounge in Timmonsville early Sunday morning, according to officials. The suspect allegedly shot another bar patron as they were rushing away.

Jay Cariques Thomas, of Olanta, was arrested by investigators with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office on Monday.

Thomas is alleged to have shot one person multiple times in the early morning hours Sunday at BJ’s Lounge, located on Brockington Street in Timmonsville, according to a news release from the FCSO. The victim was taken by a private vehicle to a nearby hospital, where treatment is ongoing.

Thomas allegedly shot another bar patron as they rushed away from the bar, the release states. That victim was also taken to a nearby hospital, where treatment is ongoing.

Thomas is being held at the Florence County Detention Center and awaiting a bond hearing. More charges or arrests are possible during this ongoing investigation, officials stated.
