North Carolina man charged with two counts of attempted murder

SCOTLAND COUNTY, NC (WMBF) - The Scotland County Sheriff's Office responded to a call in reference to a shooting that took place at the County Line Grocery Convenient Store on Hwy 71, on Friday July 31.

According to SCSO, the shooting left Seth Anthony Strickland with serious injuries.

After officers collected evidence and spoke to witnesses, the Criminal Investigations Division learned that the shooter was identified as Bryton Mathyia Locklear of Red Springs.

Warrants were obtained for Locklear and he was arrested on August 1. Locklear was found at a house on Oxendine School Road in Robeson County.

Locklear was arrested without incident and placed in the custody of the Scotland County Detention Center under a $400,00 bond. He was charged with two counts of attempted murder, one count of assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill inflicting serious injury, one count of assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill, and one count of discharging a weapon into occupied property causing serious bodily injury, according to the Scotland County Sheriff's Office.

This investigation was assisted by other agencies including Robeson County Sheriff’s Office, The SBI, and The ATF.
