MYRTLE BEACH. SC (WMBF) - Officers responded to 21st Ave. N. Sunday after observing someone on the property of an abandoned building.

The abandoned building is the old Doctors Care Building, which leaves no reason for someone to be there.

44-year-old John Edward Turner said to police that he was just passing through and wanted to sit on the bench for a few minutes. Officers then asked for the mans identification and was advised of a possible bench warrant.

The offender was detained and dispatch confirmed Turner did have a warrant.

During a search, officers located a broken glass pipe with burnt residue in it, police asked the offender what the pipe was for and he said it was for smoking marijuana and occasionally "the good stuff" The offender was charged with the bench warrant and being in possession of drug paraphernalia.
