HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Horry County Police are making progress on cases following an internal investigation into a former detective.

A man is finally behind bars for a crime he allegedly committed nearly three years ago.

The crime is one that a former Horry County Detective failed to properly investigate, according to an internal investigation by police.

This is the same detective we told you about in a WMBF News Exclusive Investigation earlier this month. Former Horry County Detective Daryl Williams improperly handled 88 cases, leaving 123 victims without justice, according to an internal investigation by police,

A victim we spoke to earlier this month in our investigation is finally seeing justice served.

She said, she carried feelings of pain and anger for nearly three years, simply because former Horry County Detective Daryl Williams allegedly failed to answer her calls and make an arrest in her case.

For years all she wanted was justice served. “Justice served, that’s what I want,” she said. “Knowing he’s off the streets, that would just bring me peace in my heart.”

David Hedin, 47, the man who reports allege left bruises and scratches on her, raped her, leaving her with eternal emotional scars, is behind bars.

Hedin has been booked at J Reuben long on a $60,000 bond. His charges: kidnapping, criminal sexual conduct of the first degree, and assault.

WMBF News reached out to the police department, but they did not want to comment on any of Former Detective Williams cases. However, this past April, Chief Saundra Rhodes said this isn't the only re-assigned case, and it is the department’s goal to bring justice for all victims.
