LONGS, SC (WMBF) - A man was shot at an underground night club in the Freemont community of Longs early Thursday morning, and later died at a nearby hospital, Horry County Police confirmed.

Police responded July 30 to reports of a shooting victim at about 2 a.m., as the victim was being transported, according to statement from HCPD's Lt. Raul Denis. The  man was shot at an underground night club in Freemont, and died at Grand Strand Medical Center, Lt. Denis said.

The victim, 28-year-old Ickle Tilinn Stanley, died at 2:55 a.m. from gunshot wounds to the chest, according to Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard. She said the shooting occurred on Radius Road at about 2:20 a.m.

Those who live in the area say this is not the first shooting, and over the past couple of months, the community's grown more violent.

There have been "ten or more," shootings, Robert Long said.

Some neighbors can easily think of ten other shootings off the top of their head - violence some blame on blatant gang presence in the area.

"You got ones in the gangs that don't even know anything about the gangs," Long said. He believes a lot of young people are getting caught up in the scene. "There's not a lot of parenting in those guys, either, maybe they've got one parent, and maybe they don't have the other parent."

Many neighbors say there is another huge contributing factor to the violence.

"They need to get their guns! That's what they need to do!" Jerry Clark said.

Clark is a long-time resident of the area, and says there have been a lot of shootings and killings over the years.

"But you can get guns from anywhere and anybody," Long said.

Some believe these guns are too easily ending up in the wrong hands.

"Yeah, if you got a little bit of money, and they have a gun, you can get it," Long explained.

A community suggestion to the problem at this point, is trying to get through to one person at a time.

"You might be able to talk to one or two and they might go and spread the word, but you're not going to get all of them at one time," Long suggested.

As for who is responsible for this shooting, some feared, they would never know.

"You know how that is, you say this person did it, or that person did it, but you don't know unless you were there," Long said.

Neighbors want to see police put a stop to these shootings.

Detectives arrested 18-year-old Keontrail Jhamarcquez Wilson of Longs, SC late Friday night in connection with the murder in Freemont. Wilson was booked at the Horry County Detention Center where he was charged with Murder and Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime, according to Lt. Denis.
