Woman shot in arm while on porch at Bennettsville home

BENNETTSVILLE, SC (WMBF) - A 56-year-old woman was shot in the arm while was she was sitting on the porch of a home on McLeod Street in Bennettsville Wednesday night at about 11 p.m., according to Lt. Larry Turner.

The shooter is described as a 5-foot-10-inch tall to 6-foot-tall man with a slim build, who was wearing blue or black shorts, a dark-colored bandana, and no shirt, Lt. Turner said. The suspect was walking down McLeod Street alone when he fired shots at the residence and struck the victim, witnesses said.

Several other people were inside the home at the time, including a 2-year-old child, Lt. Turner added. No one else was injured, but the gunshots did cause some damage to the home.

The woman who was injured was shot in her left bicep. She was taken a hospital in Florence, but is going to be fine, Lt. Turner said.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact Bennettsville Police.
