City of Darlington Fire Department seeking to hire two firefighters

DARLINGTON, SC (WMBF) – The City of Darlington Fire Department is taking applications for two full-time firefighters that would work on a 24-hour on, 48-hour off schedule.

Below are details on the available positions, posted to the City of Darlington Fire Department Facebook page Thursday:

The City of Darlington Fire Department is now accepting applications for 2 full-time firefighters. These positions will consist of working twenty-four (24) hours on forty-eight hours (48) off schedule.

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO: Performing fire suppression and rescue operations too efficiently and effectively protect the lives and property of those in need of assistance; provides medical assistance at the First Responder level as necessary, and performs related work as required. Cleans and maintains fire/rescue apparatus, equipment, station and grounds; tests fire hoses and fire hydrants; maintains emergency response equipment in a constant state of readiness. Attends training, seminars, and meetings to remain knowledgeable of modern fire suppression and prevention methods; maintains required certifications.

Minimum Requirements:
21 years of age
High school diploma or G.E.D.
Valid S.C. Class E or CDL Drivers’ License
Firefighter II (S.C. Fire Academy)
Medical First Responder
EVDT
Pump Ops
Hazmat Ops

MUST BE ABLE TO ATTEND MONTHLY TRAINING WHEN OFF-DUTY

Salary $26,200

All applications should include a 10-year Driver’s Record and copies of transcripts or certificates.

All candidates must be able to pass a SLED Background Check, a Departmental Physical and Drug Test and a Fit for Duty Skills Evaluation administered by the department.

Applications can be obtained and should be returned no later than 5 pm. Friday August 28, 2015.
