MULLINS, SC (WMBF) – A 33-year-old man has been arrested after attempting to rob a bank in Mullins and breaking into a house while running from police, officials say.

At about 4:50 p.m. Wednesday, an attempted robbery was reported at the Carolina Bank on 114 West McIntyre, according to Captain Joe Graham with the City of Mullins Police Department.

Terry Locklear, from Mullins, reportedly went into the bank, demanded money, and left without anything. He was arrested about an hour later after a search and chase, in which he fled on foot, Capt. Graham said.

While being chased by an officer, Locklear jumped a fence and broke into a home on South Main Street, according to Capt. Graham. A woman was in the home when he broke in.

Locklear was arrested in the home, and will face an attempted bank robbery charge and an additional charge for first-degree burglary for breaking into a home while the homeowner was present, Capt. Graham said.

Police say Locklear was unarmed when he was arrested, and was not armed during the bank robbery, as far as they are aware.
