NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A two-acre brush fire that started Wednesday evening near Thomas Avenue and Belle Drive in North Myrtle Beach has been contained, according to Chief Garry Spain, North Myrtle Beach Fire Chief.

The brush fire was in the middle of about 25 acres near Possum Trot Golf Course, according to Pat Dowling, Public Information Officer for the City of North Myrtle Beach.

At no time were homes in the area in danger, according to a Facebook post by North Myrtle Beach Fire Rescue, and the South Carolina Forestry Commission assisted with a forestry plow that established a fire break around the affected area.

Crews remained on scene overnight to monitor the fire and utilize the equipment provided by Horry County Fire Rescue’s Wildfire team.
