DARLINGTON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A severe storm that rolled through Darlington County Tuesday night downed several tree branches around Hartsville and blocked roads in the area.

The downed tree limbs blocked roadways north of Hartsville near Patrick Highway, according to a Facebook post from the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office. Several crews from the sheriff’s office worked to assist clearing the trees and debris from the roadway, the post states.

The roads inside Hartsville were almost completely cleared by Wednesday morning, according to Russell Cox with the City of Hartsville. The Public Service Department cleared at least 25 large trees from the roadways overnight.

About 434 Duke Energy Progress customers in the area were without power for several hours overnight Tuesday, and as of 10:19 a.m., about 85 customers were still without power. According to the company’s online outage map, power was expected to be restored by 11:30 a.m.
