MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A brand new attraction, Radical Ropes Adventure Park, is hours away from opening in Myrtle Beach.

Radical Ropes includes zip lines, ropes courses, a climbing wall and more, stretching across five-acres of land, between 17th and 19th Avenue, on South Kings Highway.

Tuesday is opening day and the hope is, the adventure course will rope you in and be a hit for both tourists and locals.

"Myrtle Beach is known for family fun, so we wanted to create something outside, that the whole family can do outside, together,” property owner Buddy Lindsay said.

Lindsay called the three-level course a challenge and a workout, with activities for all ages, taking Myrtle Beach to, “new heights.”

He said the towers reach 80 feet, but you have a choice how high you go, as there are several levels. Lindsay said, each level, takes about an hour or two to complete.

Time is something the developers are very familiar with. The course was originally supposed to open in June, but a rainy spring, into a scorching summer, set it behind. The other reason for the delay was safety inspections from the city and the state.

"All of that took time,” Lindsay said. “We took the time to make sure we not only have an incredible adventure park but a safe adventure park."

Part of safety for the course is doing some training before you hit the high ropes, which everyone is required to get.

You can start signing up online, to hit the ropes, as early as Tuesday.

Prices range from $19 to $49 per course, and can be found on the website.

The course will be open starting Tuesday from noon to 10 p.m., daily. The hours may change with time.

More South End Growth

It's not the only new spot in store for the South end. The city is in the bringing a new Walmart Neighborhood Market across the street.

"I think the south end is going to be the place to be,” Lindsay said. “We're excited to be here, there's nowhere else we would wanna be."

Once Radical Ropes grows to be the place you want to be, Buddy Lindsay says he will begin to develop his next project, which is the Homewood Suites, in the same area, along Ocean Boulevard. He hopes to start building next year.
