FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A Florence woman was arrested Thursday and charged with 27 counts of forgery, according to the Florence County Sheriff’s Office.

Renee B. Huggins, age 34, of 2604 E. Briarwood Drive in Florence, has also been charged with financial identity fraud and abuse of a vulnerable adult, according to a release from FCSO. Huggins’ initial bond hearing was on July 16, where she received a bond of $15,000 surety. An additional bond hearing surrounding the newer charges will be held Friday afternoon.

After receiving a report earlier this month of multiple forged checks being presented throughout the Florence area, investigators with the FCSO determined the checks were being presented by Huggins. The value of the forged checks exceeds $5000.

This investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be forthcoming.

When the unimaginable happens, one South Carolina school is leading the way to help victims of mass violence. We’re not just talking about active shooter situations like the one in Las Vegas last year that left 58 people dead and hundreds more hurt. Its work will also focus on incidents like the truck attack in New York City that killed eight and injured a dozen others.
