Man's body found near Socastee-area boat landing identified

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A man’s body that was found in the water near the Enterprise Boat landing near Socastee on Thursday has been identified.

Tony Hendrick, Horry County Deputy Coroner says the victim is 56-year-old Anthony M. Windham of Surfside and Florence. The preliminary cause of death is some type of cardiac event that happened while Windham was in or near the water. Coroner Hendrick says Windham death is not a drowning.

Horry County police received the call around 4:45 p.m. on July 16th concerning the body. Lt. Raul Denis said they do not suspect foul play at this time. Robert McCollough with the Department of Natural Resources said the body was found in the water near the landing.

The HCPD will continue investigating Windham’s death.
