FMU Performing Arts Center announces fall season line-up

FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) – Francis Marion University Performing Arts Center has announced its fall show line-up which will feature the country music band Sawyer Brown, “Always…Patsy Cline” the musical, the big band sound of the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra and the Nebraska Theatre Caravan’s performance of “A Christmas Carol.”

According to a news release from FMU, the show schedule is as follows:

  • Sawyer Brown – September 26 - $47 and $57 per ticket
  • “Always…Patsy Cline” – October 16 - $47 per ticket
  • Tommy Dorsey Orchestra – November 13 - $22 per ticket
  • “A Christmas Carol” – December 18 - $25 per ticket

“The shows planned for the fall continue our mission of presenting artists and productions that offer our patrons great entertainment value,” said Laura Sims, director of the PAC.

Sawyer Brown has produced three Gold albums and tons of Top 20 hits, according to the release. In 1985, the band won the County Music Association’s Horizon Award and the Academy of Country Music’s Vocal Group of the Year Award in 1997. The group is also a five-time winner of the TNN Music City News Country Awards Vocal Group of the Year honor.

“Always…Patsy Cline” chronicles a part of the life of Patsy Cline and features a number of songs from iconic country singer.

The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra recreates the classics of the Big Band era. Past band members included “Doc” Severinsen, Frank Sinatra and Buddy Rich.

The Nebraska Theatre Caravan’s rendition of A “Christmas Carol” wowed Florence audiences last year with its detailed sets and ensemble music, the release stated.

The PAC will also host more 37 different performances by resident companies, including the FMU String and Music Industry ensembles, the Florence Symphony Orchestra, the SC Dance Theatre, FMU’s Cut Time Show Choir and many others.

Tickets will go on sale on Wednesday, July 15 at noon; visit the PAC website at www.fmu.pac, call the box office at (843)-661-4444 or visit the box office located at 201 S. Dargan St., Monday through Friday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. to purchase tickets.
