NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A Grand Strand singer is sharing the stage with a famous country star, Scotty McCreery, right on her home turf.

You may know Scotty McCreery as the winner of American Idol season 10, a chart-topping country artist, or a Carolina boy. His concert features another local star, Stevie Woodward.

For as long as she could remember, growing up in Myrtle Beach, Stevie was in tune with music.

"This area means everything to me because this is where I got my start,” Woodward said.

Playing her first gigs at Lulu's Cafe, downtown, and going to the House of Blues to watch Idol artists, like Taylor Swift, now that she gets to perform on that very same stage - before another big name artist. It's surreal to her that her musical journey is circling home.

"It’s just really cool because I know on Friday night, I’m going to look out and see a bunch of familiar faces,” the singer-songwriter said.

A graduate of Myrtle Beach High, now a 22-year-old student in Tennessee, being so close to "Music City" is what she believes brought her to this opportunity.

"I put a video out online and I guess some people saw it, Scotty's manager saw it and he contacted me, asked me to meet up with him and play him a few songs,” she said. “I didn't know something would happen right away, I was just so excited, and as soon as he asked me to do it, I was like, 'Of course!'"

She's hoping after she takes the stage at the House of Blues, other doors will open.

She said, her next step is to finish college, continue writing and working on her music, and see where it takes her.

“I don't have a specific plan, I just want to do music no matter what,” Woodward said.

The performance will kick off at 7:30 p.m., Friday night. Tickets are still on sale.
