1 man arrested, 1 man wanted after shots fired at vehicle in Laurinburg

LAURINBURG, NC (WMBF) – Police have arrested one man, and are searching for another who allegedly fired shots toward a moving vehicle in Laurinburg on Tuesday.

Multiple shots were fired at a vehicle traveling on Spruce Street in Laurinburg, striking the vehicle and a nearby residence on East Vance Street, according to a news release from the Laurinburg Police Department. Jaylen Everett was arrested early Wednesday morning in connection this incident.

Devonta Jameel Monroe, 20, is wanted in connection with this incident, and is considered armed and dangerous, officials stated. He is known to frequent Mary Town, 1st Street, Tucker Street, and South Pine Street in Laurinburg. He also has connections to Greensboro, Fayetteville, and Charlotte.

Monroe has allegedly made threats to shoot officers, and is the suspect in the shooting of a police vehicle two weeks ago, according to officials.
