Florence Redwolves prep for Coastal Plain league All-star game

FLORENCE,S.C. (WMBF) An event in the works since October 1st of 2014, will finally come into fruition on July 12th and 13th when the Florence Redwolves host the 2015 Coastal Plains League All-Star game.

After months of planning and several meetings, this weekend the Redwolves organization will host its first ever Coastal Plains League all-star game.

"This is on a small scale, the same thing as you get in the big leagues and that’s exactly what we’re shooting for," said Redwolves General Manager, Barbara Osborne.

But to have big league results, you have to have big league entertainment and Osborne says they’ve got those bases covered. On Sunday, there will be a fan fest concert, headlined by local artists Outshine, a kids zone and a home run derby.

"As a whole, this event will be a huge entertainment for our community and we hope that the community will see that and want to come," said Osborne.

To ensure community involvement in the festivities, the organization has tacked on an affordable price tag, with day passes starting at $12 and $20 for both days.

"There might be people that come just for the kids zone, or people that come just for the concert ," said Osborne, "but we hope that they come for both days and enjoy everything that we have.”

Osborne says that in regards to patronage and sponsorship, team officials and event organizers tried to remain as “local as possible” but some things - such as the uniforms the players will wear for Monday’s exhibition game -had to be outsourced.

"We had a designer from New York City, that designed our logo for us, designed the shirts for us,[and] designed the hats for us," said Osborne.
