Coastal Youth Theatre Arts School performing "Shrek the Musical Jr."

 MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Theatre of the Republic's Coastal Youth Theatre Arts School (CYTAS) will present Shrek the Musical Jr. July 10-12.

Children ages 7-18 will perform a 1-hour production of the Musical "Shrek Jr.".

Students will rehearse daily from 10 a.m.- 3p.m. Monday- Friday in a workshop atmosphere that includes dancing techniques, stage presence, acting, and more.

Show peformances are Friday July 10 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday July 11 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday July 12 at 3:00 p.m.

Peformances are open to the public. Tickets are $15 for adults, $7 for children. Tickets can be purchased online beginning July 5 at theatreoftherepublic.com or at the box office before show-time.

    A BB gun was brought into Waccamaw Elementary by a student on the first day of school, a spokesperson for Horry County Schools confirmed. A 6-year-old boy in first grade showed up with the BB gun in his backpack, confirmed HCS spokeswoman Teal Britton.

We’ve all left the building.” With that, Surfside Beach resident Betty Lowery stormed out of the Surfside Beach town council meeting Tuesday night after having submitted her resignation from the town’s Planning Commission. Her resignation followed that of Sandra Elliott who earlier had also resigned from the same commission.
