Severe T'storm watch in effect for Pee Dee, Horry counties; rip current risk issued

(WMBF) - A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for Darlington, Dillon, Florence, Marion, Horry and Georgetown counties through 9 p.m. Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

Wind damage is the greatest threat.

A broken line of strong to severe storms will move across the area through the late evening hours.  

Some of the storms will have the potential to produce wind gusts of 60 mph and dime-sized hail.  

The strongest storms will arrive in the Pee Dee between 5 and 7 p.m. and along the Grand Strand between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.

A moderate risk of rip currents are in effect for coastal Horry County until 8 p.m. Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
