SCDOT repairing damage on I-26 crash scene

SPARTANBURG, SC (WMBF) A tanker truck overturned and caught fire in Spartanburg County Saturday morning.

The tanker truck overturned and caught fire in the westbound lanes on I-26 mile marker 17 at approximately 8:00 a.m. Saturday, according to the South Carolina Department of Transportation.

Lanes were closed in both directions due to the crash, however eastbound lanes were re-opened later in the morning.

A detour is in place for motorists traveling westbound on I-26: 

Take exit 18B to I-85 North.

Then Take 72 to US 176.
US 176 will return motorists to I-26.

Due to the damaged section of I-26, the westbound lanes could be closed for 24 hours or more.
