Marion Mayor calls for Highway 41 passage to honor Senator Pinckney

CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - Senator Clementa C. Pinckney will be laid to rest on Friday, June 26, 2015, at the St. James Cemetery on Highway 41, near Ariel's Crossroad, according to Marion Mayor Bobby L. Davis.

Mayor Davis is asking the public form a corridor along Hwy. 41 to show respect and condolences to the family of Sen. Pinckney. If traveling from Marion, take Hwy. 501 South and exit right at Hwy. 41.

The corridor will form at 3:30 p.m. starting at Collins Feed and Garden, on the left side, and at Angie's Country Store on the right side.

Law enforcement will be present to direct traffic and parking during the event.

Mayor Davis is also urging everyone bring a US flag, no larger than 12 inches, to hold.

Sen. Pinckney was one of nine victims shot and killed by 21-year-old Dylann Roof at Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, SC on Wednesday, June 17, 2015.
