HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A two vehicle car crash that occurred on Highway 501 south of Aynor on June 25, 2015 has left one driver dead, according to Cpl. Sonny Collins of the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Lawrence Lyons, a 79-year-old man from Aynor, was transported to Conway Medical Center and pronounced dead at 4:01 p.m., according to Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris G. Fowler. Lyons died from blunt forced trauma.

The collision occurred at about 3:07 p.m. on U.S. 501 near White Oak Lane, between Aynor and Conway.

A 2005 GMC Pickup truck stopped at the stop sign on White Oak Lane and then pulled out in front of a 2000 International Truck traveling south on Hwy. 501 causing the collision. Lyons was driving the GMC pickup and the driver of the International Truck was not injured. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.

No charges will be filed against the other truck driver because the at-fault driver was Lyons, who was killed in the collision.
