MBPD: Homeowner thwarts possible burglary by firing off shots at suspects

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A Myrtle Beach homeowner who heard a suspicious sound by his garage scared away potential burglars by shooting at them early Wednesday morning, according to a police report.

It was around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday when the victim said he heard the sounds coming from his garage. The police report says he grabbed his .22 revolver and headed for the source of the sound where he found two men- one inside and one outside his garage, talking.

The victim said he hit the garage door and it started to open, then he fired off a shot at one of the intruders, who dove under the garage door.

Both suspects took off through the victims yard, as the victim fired off three more shots but lost the two men in the chase.

When officers arrived they were unable to find any blood to indicate either suspect had been hit by a bullet. The suspects are described as thin white males, one wearing swimming trunks and tennis shoes.
