Over 31,000 Facebook users agree to show unity on 'Blue and White Friday'

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A movement on Facebook to show statewide solidarity and remember the victims of the Charleston church shooting is quickly gaining traction.

A Facebook event for “Blue and White Friday” already has over 31,000 people agreeing to show solidarity by wearing the state colors, displaying the state flag prominently, tying blue and white ribbons in public places, and/or turning their Facebook profile picture into the state flag and palm tree.

“We can not undo what has been done, but we can use it as a foundation to move forward in peace and love,” organizers stated on the Facebook event listing. “That is what this rally will do. It is simple, not much effort required, but will send a strong messages to the world. South Carolina is united. we are strong. We will not tolerate evil and we will not be afraid.”
