Myrtle Beach Police Department accepting Police Academy applications

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) -  The City of Myrtle Beach Police Department is currently accepting applications for the 30th session of the Citizen's Police Academy.

Applicants must be 21 years of age, reside in Horry County, and undergo a criminal background check.

The CPA is for those interested in gaining a bigger insight into police practices, police services, and how the police department works with the community. According to Sgt. Mike Guthinger, the academy will offer an “inside look” at policing and offers no certification or arrest powers.

Classes will being Monday September 14, 2015 and take place at the Myrtle Beach Police Annex located at 3340 Mustang Street (Old Air Force Base)

To conclude classes, a gradation ceremony will take on place November 16, 2015

Those interested can retrieve an application from, the Myrtle Beach Police Annex, or the Myrtle Beach Police Department located at 1101 Oak St.
