Charleston group urges churches country-wide to ring bells in unity Sunday morning

CHARLESTON, SC (WMBF) - A local Charleston group is urging churches across the country to ring bells at 10 a.m. on Sunday in solidarity to show unity with the city of Charleston.

Explore Charleston tweeted, "Today, we call upon our collective strength to make this a day of unity and compassion in Charleston. #CharlestonStrong #PrayforCharleston".

In an Instagram post, the group said the city is often referred to as the "Holy City" where church steeples- not skyscrapers- dot the skyline. It encouraged people visiting inside the city, residents and churches everywhere participate, and even ring handheld bells.

Below is a list of churches participating:

First Baptist Church of Myrtle Beach 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.

First Baptist Church of Surfside Beach 10:00 a.m.

First Prebyterian Church of Myrtle Beach at 10:00 a.m.

Hartsville Community Fellowship in Hartsville 10:00 a.m.

Gapway Baptist Church in Mullins 10:00 a.m.

Our church, St. Paul's Conway, 710 Main St. Conway 10 a.m.

The City of Conway is asking that all churches in the Conway community ring their church bells at 10 a.m. on Sunday June 21st.
