DARLINGTON, SC (WMBF) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation plans to replace the bridge on Society Hill Road over Black Creek in Darlington County.

United Infrastructure Group will replace the bridge, due to the structure deficiency, according to SCDOT Maintenance Forces.

The project is tentatively scheduled to start July 6, 2015 and reopen to traffic by Dec. 11, 2015.

The proposed detour route will use Cashua Ferry Road (SC34) and North Springville Road (S-16-228). The detour is 3.6 miles long and is expected to add an extra 10 minutes to your normal commute.

For more information, the public may contact Resident Construction Engineer Ken Hayes at (843) 431-1135.
