Red Cross seeking blood donors the week of Independence Day

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - The American Red Cross is looking for blood donors the week of Independence Day.

Blood donors are needed from July 2-6, 2015.

Blood donations often decline during the summer months due to traveling, and vacations, however hospital patients still depend on volunteer donors to receive lifesaving transfusions 

All blood types are needed especially those with type O negative, A negative and B negative are needed.

American Red Cross Myrtle Beach Blood Donation Center, The Plaza at Carolina Forest, 3681 Renee Drive, Unit 4

Tuesday, 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; Wednesday and Thursday, noon to 6:30 p.m.; Friday, 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; closed Saturday, Sunday and Monday.


7/7/2015: 1 p.m. - 6 p.m., McLeod Medical Center Dillon, 301 East Jackson St.


Little River

7/7/2015: 10 a.m. - 3 p.m., Marion Fire Department, 107 East Bond St.

A blood donor card or driver's license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental consent in some states), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.

Those who donate during that week, will receive  a Red Cross embroided hat while supplies last.
