5 boaters rescued in Charleston after "Mayday" call

CHARLESTON, SC (WMBF) - Five boaters have been rescued by a Coast Guard crew about 62 miles east of Charleston. The rescue happened Sunday.

A "Mayday" call was dispatched to the Coast Guard in Charleston command center at around 8:45 a.m. 

Initial reports stated that a 25-foot boat was sinking, and five people had entered the water. The operator was unable to determine his location, according to those responders.

Watch standers issued a message informing boaters of the incident.

All boaters are in good condition and no injuries have been reported.
