Myrtle Beach police respond to early morning attempted robbery

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) -  Myrtle Beach Police responded to 1st Ave. South and South Ocean Blvd. early Sunday morning for an attempted armed robbery.

The victim stated he was walking South Bound on Flagg Street to meet his sister at the summer sands motel around 12:40 a.m. Once he arrived to 1st Ave. South and Flagg Street, he was then approached by the suspect. 

According to the victim, the suspect approached him and lifted up his shirt to show him that he had a black semi automatic weapon in his waistband, he then stated to the male "I got this".

The suspect then demanded the victim to hand him over a case that he was carrying, which contained a tattoo kit.

The victim then told the suspect "no",  the suspect then attempted to pull the weapon from inside his waist band, however the victim took the case he was carrying and hit the suspect in the side of the face.

 The suspect then fled the scene running North Bound on Flagg Street.

The suspect is described as a slender build white male in his thirties with brown thinning hair and tattoos on both of his arms with a very narrow sunken face. He is also described to be about 6 feet tall, wearing  a white t-shirt and red shorts.

Officers attempted to locate the suspect but have been unsuccessful.
