How does something that was said to be a top priority for Governor Nikki Haley and lawmakers and affects every one of us living in South Carolina just die?
We all know how much improvement the roads in our state need, but still the roads bill died in the Senate.
The Governor's plan was to raise the gas tax to fund repairs, however she wanted it paired with an income tax cut.
Some lawmakers didn't agree with that plan, and that's great. The more input, debate and exchange of ideas is always a good thing. It usually results in a much more solid plan or strategy that benefits the most people. But the roads bill didn't even make it to that stage. That's a shame.
Consider This: A Top Priority for the state falls apart. And there is no consequence. That's embarrassing.
