Two kids removed from home and two arrested after meth lab found in Quinby

FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Florence County deputies are investigating a meth lab in Quinby after receiving a tip, according to Major Mike Nunn with the sheriff's office.

“This is an extremely dangerous process… this one-pot method of manufacturing methamphetamine,” Major Michael Nunn with the Florence County Sheriff's Office said.

It's that one-pot method that investigators said they found at a home located at 244 Creek Drive in the Town of Quinby.

Deputies said they were called here around 3:40 p.m. Tuesday after a tip came into the department.

After further investigation deputies said they found more than just an active meth lab.

“A one-pot method active Methamphetamine laboratory along with finished product and various Methamphetamine paraphernalia,Nunn said.

Numerous agencies including the Windy Hill Fire department, Florence County EMS and the special hazards team we're at the residence working to contain the scene.

Nunn said the one-pot method of manufacturing meth is highly explosive and dangerous.

“There is no safe way to make meth, but this is a particularly sensitive process that is subject to fire and explosion,” Nunn said.

Right now, two people will be charged with manufacturing Methamphetamine and investigators say more charges could follow.

Two kids were also removed from this home during the bust.

“Two children who had recently stayed in the residence have been taken into protective custody by DSS and placed with a relative,” Nunn said.

WMBF News asked the relationship between those children and the two arrested and because this is an ongoing investigation the sheriff's office could not provide that answer.

SLED was called into help clear and dispose of all remnants left behind from the meth lab.
