Man claims $1 million powerball ticket sold in Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – One lucky winner who bought a powerball lottery ticket at the Scotchman 3225 at 4101 Postal Way in Myrtle Beach has claimed his $1 million dollar ticket, according to the South Carolina Education Lottery.

The owner didn’t know he had the winning ticket until an announcement on the radio about a $1 million unclaimed prize prompted him to check the tickets he’d been saving at home at his computer he realized he had that very ticket.

The ticket sold matched all five white numbers drawn over a month ago: 8, 13, 18, 27, and 43. The Powerball was 15. Had the ticket holder paid $1 extra for PowerPlay, they would have won a $2 million prize.

He says the ticket was at the bottom of a stack of old lottery tickets. All he could do was sit and stare at the Powerball® ticket.

More than 7,700 players in South Carolina hold tickets for prizes from $4 up to $1 million. Players have 180 days from the drawing date to claim their prizes. For complete information on how to claim a prize, visit: www.sceducationlottery.com.

The odds of winning $1 million are 1 in 5,153,633.
