South Strand arson suspect indicted on seven counts

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – The man arrested in April for a string of arsons in the Garden City area over the last two and a half years was indicted on seven counts of arson last week.

Ryan P. Casiere was taken into custody as a person of interest in two early-morning fires in Murrells Inlet on April 24, an investigation revealed he was responsible for those cases, and dozens of other arsons, according to officials.

The seven-count indictment accuses Casiere of setting fires and damaging property at the following locations:

-Powerhouse Bar and Grill in Murrells Inlet on April 24, 2015

-D.R. Horton in Myrtle Beach on April 24, 2015

-Doctor Sattele's Weight Loss and Aesthetics in Murrells Inlet on April 24, 2015

-Rott's Auto in Murrells Inlet on March 27, 2015

-Bed Man in Murrells Inlet on March 27, 2015

-South Strand Landscaping in Murrells Inlet on March 21, 2015

-American Mattress in Murrells Inlet on December 3, 2014

Casiere was seen on a surveillance camera lighting a fire in a dumpster behind a business on Grandhaven Drive in Murrells Inlet at about 2 a.m. on April 24, according to arrest warrants.

During an interview with police, Casiere made statements about his direct involvement in the fires on Friday, over 20 dumpster fires in the area between October 2012 and April 2015, and the fires at several Murrells Inlet businesses and vehicles, according to arrest warrants.
