MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A 24-year-old Conway man has been indicted on five counts of attempted murder after allegedly carjacking and shooting one man in December 2014, and then shooting at police as he fled the scene.

Dashon Garner was indicted on five counts of attempted murder, two counts of possession of a firearm during commission of a violent crime, and one count of carjacking.

The Horry County Police Department arrested Garner for a shooting and carjacking that happened Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at approximately 1 a.m.

According to a press release from the Myrtle Beach Police Department, officers were sent to the Scotchman convenience store on 3rd Avenue South in reference to the crime.

Officers believe a victim was pumping gas when Garner approached, shooting the victim and stealing the car.

According to Lt. Crosby with the Myrtle Beach Police Department, the suspect took the victim's purple Mercedes with Maryland tags. A description of the victim's vehicle was immediately given out to surrounding agencies.

An officer with Horry County Police noticed a car matching the description and attempted to pull the vehicle over. According to Horry County Police, Garner attempted to flee; first by ramming the stolen car into the patrol car, and then by foot. While fleeing, police say Garner pulled out a handgun and fired multiple shots at the officers on scene. An officer returned fire, bur Garner got away. Police established a perimeter and searched the area, but were unable to find him.

Garner was later arrested and taken to the Myrtle Beach Police Department by Horry County Police. He was charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm during commission of a violent crime and carjacking with great bodily injury. Garner was also charged with possession of cocaine, according to the police report.
