Country music concert kicks off in Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - The four-day country music festival kicked off Thursday at 5 p.m. with local bands playing before Sam Hunt took the stage.

Despite drops of rain, concert-goers watched Dee Jay Silver, Darrell Harwood and Early Ray perform Thursday. Many described the atmosphere as fun, filled with energy and good music.

Marie McCarthy, from Little River said, "This atmosphere is wonderful, and just watching all the kids enjoying themselves, I'm enjoying that, I'm a people watcher. I love to see their reactions to the music and they're dancing, and the things that they're doing."

The food and drink vendors were not operating Thursday night, but Friday is the official start of the festival.  Some concert-goers were not sure what to think about the music festival coming to Myrtle Beach. " I was a little skeptical at first, I didn't think we could be prepared for that big of crowd but we're looking good, looking real good," said Joan Kuhen, a concert-goer.

More than 10 performers are scheduled to take the stage Friday beginning at 12:30 p.m. to be followed by more 20 more artists through Sunday.
