NC woman facing murder charges after investigators delve deeper

SCOTLAND COUNTY, NC (WMBF) - A North Carolina woman has been arrested on second-degree murder charges after a woman was found dead in her car in Laurinburg in September 2014.

Valerie Victoria White-Beal was booked into the Scotland County jail Tuesday, said Capt. Mitch Johnson, Scotland County Sheriff's Office.

Johnson said the death investigation of Rhonda Patterson McKenzie, of Laurinburg, revealed McKenzie was found deceased on September 27, 2014 at a residence located on Price Street. McKenzie did not live on Price Street, said Johnson. However, Beal lives on Price Street.

After the autopsy results, further investigation was done in regards to her death.

The investigation found Beal gave two people a narcotic in 2005, which resulted in the death of both individuals.

Then in September of 2014, Beal provided that same narcotic to McKenzie.

Knowing it resulted in the death of two other people in 2005, McKenzie was arrested using a North Carolina law.

Beal had not been charged with deaths in 2005; however, discussion with the defense attorney may bring additional charges for those deaths.
