Man shot while changing tire in Horry County, police say

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A 34-year-old man was shot while changing a tire on the side of the road on Highway 701 North near Walkers Road in Horry County early Wednesday morning, according to a news release from Horry County Police.

The victim told police that at about 1:30 a.m., two men approached him as he was changing the flat tire. He thought they were going to help him, but instead, the men shot him, kicked him, and robbed him of his wallet.

The victim then drove to his home in Loris, and had a family member drive him to an emergency room in Conway, he told police. The victim was shot through his right leg, and the doctor stated the wound is not life threatening, according to the police report.

The victim could only describe the suspects as a black male and a white male, possibly wearing a hat. The suspects' vehicle was described as a large white truck of unknown make and model.

Police believe the victim is in stable condition.
