Over 2,000 Duke Energy, Santee Cooper customers without power

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Over 1,300 Duke Energy customers are without power around Pembroke, and nearly 1,000 Santee Cooper customers lost power around North Myrtle Beach Wednesday morning.

According to the Duke Energy outage map, 1,344 customers along Highway 74 were without power as of 7:30 a.m. Wednesday. The outage was caused by fallen trees or limbs damaging the company's equipment, the map states. The outage was first reported at 4:41 a.m., and at its peak, 1,471 customers were affected. Power is expected to be restored by 11 a.m.

As of 7:30 a.m., 976 Santee Cooper customers were without power in North Myrtle Beach, according to the company's outage map. The outage was first reported at 5:19 a.m., and the expected restoration time for that outage was 7:30 a.m.
