Palmetto State ranks second to last in safest states study

SOUTH CAROLINA, (WMBF) - South Carolina fell second to last in a recent study featuring the safest states to live in.

The Palmetto State ranked 50, beating out Mississippi in last place, according to a WalletHub study.

According to the study, South Carolina found itself among the top five states for the highest number of assaults and most fatalities per 100 million vehicle miles of travel.

The state featured five rankings: ““Financial Safety” Rank, “Road Safety” Rank, “Workplace Safety” Rank, “Natural Disasters” Rank and “Home & Community Safety” Rank.

South Carolina ranked best in natural disasters with a 28 out of 50 states and ranked the worst with a 50 out of 50 score for home and security safety, according to study findings.

In addition, the Palmetto State fell second to last in the road safety rank.
